Dorte Bladt is the founder of Switched-on Kids. Throughout her career as a chiropractor, Dorte has loved providing gentle chiropractic care for babies and children. However, it was out of personal experience with her daughter that she developed a passion for helping children with learning and behavioural challenges. Dorte realised she needed to know and do more for these kids.  She spent countless hours over many years studying topics such as neurology, child development, brain stimulation, sensory-motor integration, nutrition, supplementation, teaching approaches and chiropractic techniques.

Dorte uncovered a mass of interrelated knowledge and practical approaches to children’s health and started applying them to not only her daughter but also the children she was seeing.

With very positive initial feedback from parents, teachers and the kids themselves, Dorte spent the next five years developing and perfecting protocols that are at the core of the Switched-on Kids program.

She currently runs a busy family practice in Newcastle, Australia, caring mainly for babies and children. She has a special interest in children with learning, attention, coordination and behavioural challenges. Professionals in her local area: teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists, behavioural optometrists, naturopaths and GPs are very interested in her approach.

Dorte has been teaching the Switched-on Kids program to chiropractors nationally and internationally since 2006 and, in 2016, published a book providing the tools and information to help parents help their children.

Dorte feels very strongly about the science and research concerning child health and development. In 2015 she started an international fundraising event called The Kids’ Summit. The purpose of The Kids’ Summit is to raise funds for research into chiropractic care for children while educating chiropractors in all aspects of children’s’ health and function. This has been a very successful event which has raised $80,000 for research so far.
